As you may (or may not have, depending on your eyesight) noticed, mJS hasn’t been posting for the past 3 months, and before that, the blog’s posts had slowed down significantly.
The slowing was due to decreasing submissions*, but the often intermittent nature of mJS’s posting was due to a diminished number of co-bloggers having less time - and frankly, less desire - to make and queue secrets.
* for those interested, there was a time when mJS would post between 90 and 110 secrets per day, but for the last few months the queue has been set to post fewer than 10.
The nature of the fandom has changed significantly from when this blog was first started, back on 4th December 2011. 20,286 posts and 19,178 secrets later, the tone of the submissions has followed the trend set by its fandom; a previously large proportion of genuinely positive, cute/adoring, sexually confessional, worried-and-seeking-help, twin-centric secrets has been overthrown by a now majority of angry/bitter/jealous/hateful/frustrated (for want of better words) posts about the fandom, and also the twins themselves. Certainly, there have always been these types of posts, but the number of “nice” posts they were scattered between has been on the decline (and personally I feel that a large number of the positive posts that are still submitted seem more forced than they do genuine, but perhaps I’m being cynical).
This shift is probably largely contributed to by the lack of new things happening with the twins - when this blog started there were post-CBB fans joining the fandom, and then ESC2012 fans; since Young Love’s release, there have been fewer new things going on to keep the fandom thriving as it did previously, and consequently there have been fewer new topics for secrets to focus around. The submission rate of “fresh” and original secrets greatly stunted, mJS seems to have run its course - unfortunately (or fortunately, perhaps), mJS is going to stop posting its submissions. (This includes the 107 unmade secrets that have gathered in the inbox since it was last emptied. I apologise to those who submitted in this time and haven’t had their secrets made!
And in particular to the two funny ones that sadly won’t get to spread their lols into the world.)
Although this blog won’t be checked regularly, I will probably pop in from time to time to check the inbox, so feel free to submit anything you want me to read / general fandom things. If something happens in the fandom that sparks a series of interesting submissions, it may be that I (or the other remaining co-blogger, who still has the keys to the blog!), will make and post those few select things. But the something would have to be really interesting ;)
To everyone who followed/read this blog, thank you!
To everyone who submitted secrets, thank you again!
Special commendations go to the 10 co-bloggers who have worked on this blog over the 2-and-a-bit years of its life, who have managed to keep the passwords and secrets of the blog safe and have been thoroughly fantastic.
Etc etc etc. This post is already too long.
P.S. I sort of wanted to reblog 20 or so past secrets for reminiscing purposes, but as mJS hasn’t ever reblogged posts to itself, I am going to settle on recommending you have a quick look through the glory that is the /tagged/special page, as those are some of the secrets that we had the most fun making! :)
Yes. Possibly with the occasionally ghostly event.
